Which One in Which Season

• Late Fall to Spring

  Lassen Park Highway is closed at both park entrances in the snowy season, which the National Park Service puts at approximately November to June. Plan Lassen for summer and fall, and use Lake Oroville, the Bidwell Mansion visitor center or the brewery in the cooler months. Weather normals for Chico are on our Chico weather by month page.

• Hot Summer Days

  Chico’s normal July high is 95°F by NOAA’s 1991-2020 normals. The NPS lists Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center at 6,707 feet and Manzanita Lake at 5,900 feet; both trips are covered on their own pages.

• Any Day

  The brewery tours and the Bidwell Mansion visitor center run on set weekday and weekend hours, so check the day before you go.
