Gray Lodge or The Sacramento Refuge?

Print / Save As PDF

Gray Lodge Wildlife Area and the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge are the two big winter bird stops within an hour of Chico. Both have a drive-through route where you stay in your car and let the geese stay put. Gray Lodge, run by the state, has weekend guided walks and a short paved trail. The federal refuge has the longer auto tour, a visitor center and the bigger November count. Here is how they line up.
