What The Organizer Has Announced for 2027
The festival home page lists these 2027 highlights, in its own order:
- Workshops and kids’ activities at the Historic Patrick Ranch Museum.
- Over 55 field trips, educational exhibits and free activities for families.
- A dinner banquet with a keynote speaker at the Bell Memorial Union at Chico State on Saturday, January 30.
- The Birds! Art Exhibit at the Museum of Northern California Art (monca) on Friday, January 29.
The organizer calls it one of the largest birding festivals in California. It says the festival has drawn nearly 15,000 attendees over the years and run more than 1,300 outdoor activities across Butte, Glenn and Tehama counties.

How Registration Has Worked
For the 2026 festival, field trips and workshops were booked online through the festival’s registration page, and online booking closed a few days before the festival. The organizer said walk-in registration “may be available” for some events at the Patrick Ranch Museum headquarters, but could not be guaranteed. The 2027 registration page says to check back in December 2026. If you want a particular field trip, plan to book as soon as the schedule is posted.
