What You’ll Find There

The Town of Paradise describes a two-day fall festival that celebrates the Ridge’s apple heritage. Residents and Chamber members bake apple pies, sold whole and by the slice. Local businesses give demonstrations, artisans from around the state sell handicrafts, and the children’s area has games, prizes and face painting. Johnny Appleseed visits and tells stories. The Chamber adds a Hometown Stage with continuous local entertainment and a Save Mart Pie Pavilion, where donated slices of apple pie are served.

How Old Is It?

The two official sources do not agree on the first year. The Town’s festival page says the fair now called Johnny Appleseed Days was first held in 1888. The Town’s history page calls today’s festival a direct descendant of the Paradise Harvest Festival of 1889, held to celebrate fruit and winter vegetables. The Chamber, which has sponsored the festival since 1937 according to the Town, says 1888. We print both years and do not pick one.
